The Common Moorhen (Scientific name - Gallinula chloropus) is a waterbird that is very similar in appearance to the American Coot. These birds frequent marshlands and lakes and are found in many parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, North Africa and North and South America. They are sometimes known as a waterhen.
They have mostly dark plumage with yellow legs, white under tail and a distinct red face shield. Tip of bill is yellow.
