The Pacific Golden Plover (Scientific name - Pluvialis fulva) is similar to the American Golden Plover. The Pacific Golden Plover breeds in Alaska and Siberia and winters on Pacific Islands and in Southeast Asia. The species is occasionally found in California.
These photos were taken in Kaanapali, Maui, Hawaii in November 2012.
The breeding colours of this bird are much more striking with a black face and belly.
