Common Moorhen

The Common Moorhen (Scientific name - Gallinula chloropus) is a waterbird that is very similar in appearance to the American Coot. These birds frequent marshlands and lakes and  are found in many parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, North Africa and North and South America. They are sometimes known as a waterhen.
They have mostly dark plumage with yellow legs, white under tail and a distinct red face shield. Tip of bill is yellow.

Photos were taken in April 2013 in Kensington Park, London, England.

    1. Thanks, it is a work in progress, but it seems that I can usually find new birds and not always new lighthouses. Cheers!
